A short story in our Single Character section written by Jackie about a Terry Thorne returning home with a small bundle he bought on a whim, a leather-covered book with empty pages…at least the pages and his life was empty until he wrote in it.  Please venture into a sweet and charming “What You Wish For.”

The second story is the first installment based on the Twitter Role Playing game that went on for several months between various characters, most notably between Capt. Jack Aubrey and a new lady, Madeleine Musette.  Maddy knows all about the secret of Crowe’s Point - has lurked there for sometime but has never gained enough courage to take that one final step into the universe…until she read and saw Jack.  Now she hovers at a social function held on the deck of the Surprise, and Maddy finds herself under the captain’s influence…or rather, the influence of his special stock of wine.  Please visit “We Have The Weather Gods.”

As it stands, Capt Jack Aubrey has all but technically proposed to Maddy Musette and Maddy has taken Jack back home to help her pack for her move onto the Surprise, as well as work out the best compromise for her continued involvement in her band.  SID 6.7 has gone through a complete reboot and emerged as someone or something completely different…and its up to Ava James, psychology student and newcomer to the Point, to figure out exactly who that is.  Meanwhile, she makes amends with Bud White, with whom she has rejected in the past in favor of SID and while Bud is left hopeful of their future together, he is without a lady of his own.  Terry Thorne himself has gone from lonesome lad to finding the woman of his dreams in Shaina Yarborough, a widow with a ten year old daughter named Eden.  He brings both to the Point to show them what life is like.  Eden is invited to join a group of school kids visiting Cort’s retreat center, The Well of Hope, and he and Chloe are busy making sure everything runs smoothly.  In the meanwhile, Max Skinner no sooner settles into a drink when he notices the new librarian, Laurie Drake.

A brand new addition to the Point RP is Rhona Hawk, security specialist.  Wonder what Ben Wade will think of her?

Along with our update, we’d like to introduce you to some new arrivals to the Crowe fandom itself - one involves a blog dedicated with love to the actor himself and his various characters.  Golden Girl presents “Russell Cove” for the purpose of discussing our favorite characters and latest news of our Favorite Man.  She’s a brand new fan and we always love to welcome newcomers to the fandom.  She has excellent taste in actors and men, doesn’t she, ladies?

And finally, we’ve been honored with new additions to our Twitter Role Playing family - newcomers to the fandom @nyteraider and Golden Girl have kindly agreed to participate in our little social media game for the Crowe’s Point, the alternate universe for all our favorite Crowe characters.  If you’ve been following the RP with @SIDSixPtSeven and @Ava_James, then you will be excited to learn that SID has gone through a reboot…Good Lord, what sort of mesmerizing monster will come out of SID now?  And will Ava be able to figure him out (in time)?  We can promise you, NOTHING is boring at the Point…

(and a big round of applause for @nyteraider, @Ava_James & GoldenGirl - they’ve already given us a taste of things to come…)

The BEST way you can keep up with all these streams (of consciousness…or lack thereof) is to check out our MixTweet site - this has been a LOVELY answer to our collaboration issues on Twitter, especially in regards to role-playing.  It can be hard enough trying to figure out how Twitter works on a general basis - throw in a continual soap opera of conversation and things can rapidly get lost in the chatter.  But MixTweet allows us to create groups of the Twitter people we want you to see, and everyone is collected in our Group, The Gaslight Tavern, as well as individual pairings.  Some of those pairing include @CaptJackAubrey with @MaddyMusette2 and @MrTerryThorne with @Shaina_Y.

Plus,the really neat thing about MixTweet is, if you want to go back in history, just click the “more” button at the bottom of the page.  Its role-play reading made easy!

So a group account of our own has been set up for our own RP set up.  We hope this will make it easier to follow what is going on.

Just go to the site menu, click on “Twitter” and you will see a link in white called ‘Gaslight Tavern’.  There you will see all of our RP accounts listed and a continual update for each time one of those characters post.

As promised in our Receiving Room post of a few days ago, we’d like to announce the next upload of PIC FEST - Volume 2 to the website (listed on our Crowe’s Chronicles page under Multiple)…

…a brand new story that I am quite certain that all those Ben Wade lovers out there will thoroughly enjoy. It is called ‘On a Raven’s Wing‘ and it is written by an old friend of mine who goes by the nomme de plume Ithildyn. She has written many a fan-fiction for her favorite shows, Highlander, Forever Knight, Lord of the Rings, and a few other fandoms as well. In this particular story, she was challenged to write a crossover that puts Ben Wade in the middle of some very interesting places and relationships and I daresay even if you havent ever seen the Highlander series or The Magnificent Seven, you will very easily enjoy Ith’s story.

Just another sporadic-out-of-the-blue-totally-not-in-keeping-with-our-regular-schedule post.  Neither rain nor sleet nor blanket of snow kept us from our appointed task, nor did the few hummingbird stragglers buzzing around waiting for the prevailing winds of the next cold front distract us from writing to you of a new upload onto the site.

No, indeed, it was the fact that both Tina and I took time out of our lives to meet each other at the Newark Airport and fly to London, England at the end of October.  At least, that’s the excuse we have THIS time.  But oh, what a fun time we had elaborating on that excuse!  We stayed in a flat in Canary Wharf and took an excursion to Portsmouth to see the HMS Victory, as well as to Bath and Leeds Castle, and essentially toodled around London itself to experience both its day and night life and its cultural centers…not to mention one foray that prompted a new phrase for the two of us: “what happens in Paddington, STAYS in Paddington.”

No, I will not elaborate on that.  At least not here.

Anyway, we were mindful on our return that it had been a while since we posted anything new and Tina was determined to bring to the fore a particular favorite of Gaslight members of the past, one that we hope you will find entertaining and inspiring.  PICFEST - an ever evolving…er…documentary?  Report?  Round-robin involving all of your favorite characters as played by the Inimitable Mr. Crowe (well, at least those characters up to and including Maximus Decimus Meridius.)

There *are* a few quirks present in the story, such as: it began as a lark and with humor, but quickly became a saga of personalities and drama and pathos in ways that can only happen at a place called The Crowe’s Nest…which leads me to the second quirk: the Nest was the original name of the alternate universe where “the Boyz” resided before it eventually became the Crowe’s Point.

Another quirk will become quickly obvious: there are pictures involved in the telling of the story, the author(s) writing the scene to fit the picture (or finding the picture to fit the scene) and this makes our document voluminous…so that’s what we’ve done: created volumes, the first of which we’d like to announce as now linked in our Crowe’s Chronicles Page under the Multiple heading and one of the documents loaded into our Scribd account.

So if youre an old ‘fan’ of Gaslight and wondered whatever happened to PicFest, here it is back in “living color;” and, if you’re a newcomer to the world of Crowe’s Point (er, Nest) boy, are you in for a treat!

The first volume of PicFest contains the first three chapters.  Subsequent volumes are currently being reformatted and prepped to load and we will announce each upload as it occurs.

Actually I have more to say than that: we havent updated not because we dont have anything to update with, but rather both of us have seen Real Life torque things up - the Louisville PD has stepped up its watch hours for all its employees and Tina has been raking in the overtime.  Not sure if its because something changes in the water at this time of year for Crime Scene Techs or someone having fun with everyone’s schedules…needless to say, Tina has barely enough time to come in from one night’s work, grab a bite to eat, collapse for a few hours and then get up again to start the whole thing over.  And if that weren’t enough, her mother had a heart attack and had to be hospitalized for a while.  The lady is doing well now, but you can see how the website and writing have been farthest from her mind.  Continued prayers and wishes for her mother’s recovery and perhaps a gentler schedule in the future!

As for me, Ive been busy too - homeschool has new responsibilities and new subjects this year, such as Geometry and Texas history (required for every student in the state).  The former is…well, lets just say Ive learned to recruit other help.  The latter is a subject near and dear to my heart, so its not a burden, but the method of teaching relies more on field trips than anything else…much fun with that as well, but takes more planning than one would think.

Writing is ALWAYS on my mind, but finding the peace and quiet to do it is almost as much a challenge as prepping a Geometry lesson.

So having presented our excuses for THIS go ’round, Id like to say that we do plan to update with more stories from the vaults within the next few days.  Tina tells me it will involve a story called PicFest, which used to be an old favorite of Gaslighters.  Ive only seen bits and pieces of it so this will be as much a new discovery for me as it is for those who are just now getting to know Gaslight.

And there are stories that are being worked on to bring up to date, but fate/the weather gods have conspired to make that a slower process.
